Roll Over MVAFirefighters from the Winston Dillard Fire Department (WDFD) and Douglas County Fire District No.2 (DCFD2) were dispatched to a single vehicle accident in the 1300 block of Douglas BLVD at 9:42 Monday morning. While responding to the scene a report came in that the patient involved was trapped in the upside-down vehicle so an additional fire engine with extrication tools was dispatched.On arrival firefighters found the accident had occurred in the area in front of Douglas High School. The vehicle had left the roadway and was traveling toward the river, rolled over and came to rest on its top. An oak tree kept the vehicle from traveling into the river. The crews worked quickly to ensure the scene was safe and assessed the driver to determine the severity of their injuries. The injuries were not life threatening, but the driver was trapped and the extensive use of extrication tools was required to free the driver from the vehicle.The patient was transported by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center for further evaluation. WDFD responded with 1 ambulance and 1 fire engine. DCFD2 responded with 1 ambulance, 1 fire engine, and 2 command unit. Douglas County Sheriff Deputies and Winston Police Department assisted at the scene.
